Like many research libraries these days, Harvard owns several million books and other library materials for which there is no longer shelf-space in the Cambridge and Boston library buildings. When HOLLIS "Location and Availability" indicates that a title is in Offsite Storage, look to the far right of that same line for: Request Item. Click here and type in your Harvard Key user name and password. Then choose from the drop-down list the Harvard library where you'd like the book delivered. You'll receive an email when the book arrives telling you exactly where it is and how long it will be held (usually a week). 

Items ordered by 3pm typically arrive the next business afternoon. 

Some items cannot be requested in HOLLIS+. Material housed in special collections and archives will not have the Request Item button. For information about the particular library and its procedures, you can click on the blue map pointer icon beside the facility name, write to Ask a Librarian, or call Widener Reference at 617/495-2411.
