NEDL stands for the New England Deposit Library, an off-site storage facility in Allston, founded in 1938.  Harvard, and other Boston universities, stored little-used library materials there prior to the establishment of the Harvard Depository in Southboro MA.

There is an article by Edwin Williams in The Iceberg of March 18, 1970 (v.2:6) detailing the history of the NEDL and copies of this article are on file at the Atkins Reference Desk in Widener Library (filed under New England Deposit Library).
