How can I find newspapers online?

Access to digital editions of current papers (e.g. nytimes.com): see Does Harvard subscribe to the digital editions of popular newspapers?

Online access to print editions of newspapers (old and current) using Harvard's databases

  • HOLLIS: search for the newspaper by title and then follow the "View Online" link. You may be presented with a menu of networked resources. Choose the option that matches the date range you're interested in.
    • If it's hard to tell which HOLLIS record corresponds to current issues of the paper, pay attention to place of publication and try a record that has a start date but not an end date. See, for example, our records for the Wall Street JournalNew York TimesWashington PostLA TimesThe Times of London, and Le Monde.
    •  If we don’t have online access for the dates you’re interested in, but you know of specific articles you wish to consult, you may be able to get those via our Scan & Deliver (from the HOLLIS record for the item) or Interlibrary Loan services.
