Use the Harvard Library OpenAthens link generator

  • Direct: one-click access to the material
  • Relies on vendor consistency: the underlying url is specific to the vendor or publisher website, Harvard Library has no control over its durability

HOLLIS permalink

Select "permalink" (chain-link icon) in your HOLLIS search results. From a results list, this option is under "action options" (three dots icon). From a record details view, this option is in the Send To menu. 

  • Reliable: links to the HOLLIS record; Harvard Library updates the "Online Access" link as needed
  • Takes two clicks: passes via the HOLLIS record, which often provides additional details about the item

Library Course Reserves

Follow the instructions on Course Reserves.

  • For course staff only
  • Reliable: Harvard Library will ensure the link stays valid
  • Influences collection development decisions: Harvard librarians take course usage into account when deciding whether to renew licenses
