How can I find manuscripts in Houghton Library?

Archival material is usually described with a finding aid. You can search Harvard’s finding aids using HOLLIS for Archival Discovery. After running a search, limit the repository to Houghton Library in the “Refine My Results” section of the page.

Many manuscripts that were cataloged individually, as well as larger collections that haven’t been processed in depth may not have a finding aid. You can search for these in HOLLIS, Harvard’s library catalog. Click on the Advanced Search option, and on the following page select Library Catalog from the “Search for” options. Limit the “Resource Type” to Archives/Manuscripts, and the “Search Scope” to Houghton.
