Services for students who are not living locally are somewhat limited. There are some options for those who are currently enrolled but not living locally:
Interlibrary Loan: Harvard's Interlibrary Loan department can't assist you with books, unfortunately. That service is designed for the delivery of materials to Harvard libraries. This is also true for Borrow Direct. However, ILL can still get pdfs of of articles and book chapters on your behalf.
If you are affiliated with another school, you can use interlibrary loan there, or at the local public library.
Scan and Deliver: You can also use Scan and Deliver to request copies of articles and book chapters in the Harvard Libraries (this is usually, but not always, an option, depending on the item you want).
E-resources: Access to Harvard's electronic resources (anything you have to log in online to see) is always available to current affiliates with Harvard IDs and PINs.
Using other libraries: Borrow Direct Plus gives currently enrolled Harvard students physical access to and borrowing privileges at other Borrow Direct Libraries. See our answer about using Borrow Direct Plus.
Although we do not have official reciprocal relationships with other universities beyond Borrow Direct Plus, it's always a good idea to inquire at local college or university libraries about privileges, including interlibrary loan. We are happy to provide letters of introduction for you, asking that other libraries extend privileges to you in accordance with their policies. (Contact the Library Privileges Office for such a letter).
